Murchison falls National Park
Wildlife in Murchison National Park. This national park acquires its name from Murchison falls, where the great River Nile explodes through a narrow gorge and flows down to become a calm and peaceful river whose grounds are crowded with hippos, crocodiles, water bucks and buffaloes. The vegetation is comprised of the savannah, riverine forest and woodland, wildlife including lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, hant beest, Uganda kobs, chimpanzees and several bird species with the un common shoe bill inclusive.
Beginning with a panoramic drive northwest through the popular Luwero Triangle and Masindi town. For lunch, make a stop at Masindi Hotel. Continue to Murchison falls National Park through Budongo forest, drive up to the top of the spectacular falls where you can view the perfected beauty of the Nile and wonderful as it compresses and squeezes itself from 1 kilometer wide town through a 7 meter canyon. The 150 meter drop of the falls creates a thunderous roar and a beautiful rainbow in a plane of spray-the most beautiful rainbow is a plane of spray-the most beautiful to ever occur to the Nile. Lastly, you can have pleasure in the sunset as come back to the very nice comfort and service of Paraa safari lodge or Red Chilli river camp or Sambiya river lodge (LD).
After taking a cup of tea, start on an early morning game drive on the northern bank where your guide will assist you to view elephants, lions, cape buffalo, rothchild?s giraffes, hartebeests, oribi, bush bucks, bohor reed bucks, hyenas and on rare occasions leopards. Come back to the lodge and take breakfast. Relax at the swimming pool side. After having lunch, you will go upstream by boat to the placid Victoria Nile and the base of the falls only tens of meters from the ?Devil?s Cauldron?. There you can wonder at toothsome hippos, crocodiles and over the 17-kilometer stretch, you may also view elephants, water bucks plus Uganda kobs. This is also a home for several birds species which include goliath herons, Egyptian geese, pelican, bee-eaters, king fishers, hornbills, cormorants and the uncommon shoebill stork. After taking shots of the photogenic Murchison falls, you will come back to have supper and an overnight at Paraa safari lodge or Red Chilli, river camp or Sambiya river lodge (BLD).
Drive through the Albertine Escarpment of the Western Rift alley on the Masindi-Hoima-Fort Portal route. This will be a long drive south through Hoima to Fort portal, passing thorough large countryside and traditional homesteads and farms. Fort Portal is found in the shadow of the fabled ?Mountains of the moon?. The journey is long!. The minimum is five hours of driving. Dinner and over night will be had at Ndali safari lodge or Rwenzori view guesthouse or basic sky tree house (BLD).
After breakfast, we shall set off to Kibale forest National Park, for primate observing. The activity begins at 8:00am in the morning. A full day tracking the chimpanzees plus other primates, which include Phoestes, Red Colobuses, Blues, Red-tailed and grey cheeked mangabeys swinging through the dense forest and birds, butterflies and several tiny insects. The guide will give detailed information not only on primates but also on all the forest?s fauna and flora, making sure that your trip is both informative and pleasurable. This trip is very good for watching bird life and primates in close quarters. A tour to Bigodi swamp eco-tourism site is surprising, as we shall encounter scarce and beautiful flora and fauna. Lunch, supper plus overnight will be had at Ndali safari lodge or Rwenzori view guesthouse or Basic sky tree house (BLD).
After having breakfast, we shall go to Ugandas capital and get there early for lunch.
