Queen Elizabeth National Park

QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK:
In 1979, Queen Elizabeth National Park was designated as a biosphere reserve with the furthest objective of harmonizing human activities with the conservation and protection of wildlife, wetlands plus natural resources. There are even fishing village enclaves within the gazetted area. The ethnic tribes virtually attached to this region include; Banyankole, Bakiga and Bakonjo.

Queen Elizabeth national Park together with Kyambura plus Kigezi wildlife reserves make one of the most diverse Ecosystems in Africa. Here, the melting glacier waters of the Rwenzori mountains create a large wetland system comprising of two main lakes; Lake George and Lake Edward being joined by the great Kazinga channel to the remote Ishasha River in the South. This part collects an extensive variety of homes that range from savannah and wetlands, to gallery and lowland forest. This remarkable variety is reflected in its bird list of more than 550 species and that is the reason why I may be right to call it the ?birder?s paradise?, the largest of any protected area in Africa. The Lake shore lines gather thousands of hippos as the patent savannah speckled groups of buffaloes, the Uganda Kob and many more.
