Getting There
Take a flight form your country to Entebbe International Airport. It is serviced by a number of international airlines, such as British Airways, SN Brussels, Ethiopian Airlines, South African Airways, Kenya Airways, Rwandair Express, Air Tanzania, and Egypt Air. The airport lies 40km or 40 minutes drive to the capital Kampala. Uganda can also be accessed overland from Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania.

What to Bring
A valid passport is mandatory, and visa requirements should be checked before you travel. To make the most of the game reserves and national parks, carry binoculars and field guides. Photographers will need a zoom lens for wildlife. Print film and developing is available in Kampala. Toiletries and other essentials can be bought in the cities.

Language
English is the official language and educated Ugandans speak it fluently. Luganda is mostly used of the 30 plus different indigenous languages.

Money
Uganda shilling is the unit of currency used in the country. The US dollar is conventionally the hard currency of preference, but Pound Sterling and Euro are also broadly accepted. Hard currency cash can be changed for local currency at banks and bureaux de change in all large cities, but travellers? cheques may not be accepted outside Kampala. Credit and Visa cards can be used at selected ATMs at Entebbe Airport, in Kampala, and other major towns in the country to withdraw local currency.

Health
You require a certificate of yellow fever vaccination. All visitors are advised to take malaria prophylactic drugs. Drinking bottled water is the best option but you need to park some since it may not be available when you travel far from the cities.

When to Visit
Uganda can be visited all year round, though certain safari activities like gorilla tracking, mountain hikes, and other forest walks are more demanding during the rains. Such tours are usually carried out between June to August and December to March.

What to wear
Daytime temperatures are normally warm, so bring lots of light clothing for the day. Evenings are cooler, mainly at high altitudes, so carry a couple of light sweaters too. Those who intend to hike on the mountains will be exposed to alpine temperatures and should pack accordingly. Solid walking shoes and sturdy clothing are ideal for forest walks. Don?t forget to bring a hat, sunglasses and a waterproof jacket.

Driving
Visitors without experience of African roads are advised to hire a vehicle with a driver rather than self-drive. Driving is on the left side of the road.
